Where is Theynow?

Posted by Bryan at February 6th, 2007

Hi, everyone.

I’ve received a few well-deserved questions about why I haven’t updated since around the time the TV show “Lost” took a vacation.  Long story short: I broke my equipment.

See, I had acquired this really sweet microphone, with a swing-arm and a pop filter and a sound board and everything. I got cables and fed everything into the “Microphone In” on the laptop and my sound engineer friend helped me fine-tune the sound. Then, the next time I tried to plug the cable in, the end of it snapped off inside the laptop. I have no idea how to get it out.

Additionally, I’m switching employers, so I won’t even have this computer for much longer. I didn’t really have time to send it in for repairs.

The good news is that I just ordered a USB condenser microphone, which I should have working within a week. Also, people have sent me in some great music lately, which helps.

Thanks for your continued patience.

Upcoming Common Rotation Interview

Posted by Bryan at October 18th, 2006

I’m going to be conducting an interview with the members of Common Rotation, an excellent band in their own right, who toured with TMBG during The Spine Hits the Road Tour. They may even be joined by Brian Speiser, TMBG’s live sound engineer, who also produced Common Rotation’s latest album, “Isalie.”

This is your open invitation to send in suggestions for questions, praise, comments and/or conversation starters for me to present to the band.

I realize I’m preaching to the choir, here, but the long-awaited tribute album has been released. I just bought it through emusic.com and recommend you do the same!

RSS 2.0. Still immature.

Posted by Bryan at July 7th, 2006

Apologies again for the problems people have had downloading the show. The plugin that I use (and will probably stop using) to indicate which mp3 file is the actual show gets confused on a regular basis, and tries to point to any and all media files I have linked to in the post, which is why you were downloading only the ~2 minute “She’s an Angel” cover.

The problem’s been fixed. For real, this time.

Podcasting — A Niche Audience for $30 or Less

Posted by Bryan at May 26th, 2006

For anybody in the audience that would like to get backstage and learn more about how I produce this show, and my philosophy about audioblogging in general, I’m happy to point you to a screencast of a presentation I gave to Refresh Dallas a couple of weeks ago.

I recorded the audio of myself talking to the group, and then later synched it up with a movie I made of myself flipping through the screens of the presentation. It hardly gets more meta than that ;)

The original presentation screens are also available if you want to go through it at your own pace and/or get at the links embedded in the presentation.
